leekLeek (Allium porrum)


Leek is a vegetable very appreciated in herbal medicine for its therapeutic properties. Leek contains minerals, vitamin B1, B2, C, PP, fiber, volatile oil. 


Leek is recommended for obese people. Meals based on leek must be included in all weight loss diets.


Also leek is a natural treatment for:

 

  • respiratory diseases

  • cough

  • hoarseness

  • pharyngitis (syrup made from leek decoction)

Leek is a good:

  • emollient

  • sedative (for digestive tract irritation)

  • laxative

  • diuretic

  • antiseptic

  • expectorant  

Leek is considered a natural remedy for the treatment of:

  • atherosclerosis, 

  • nasal bleeding

  • acne

  • skin redness

  • intestinal worms

  • obesity

  • rheumatic diseases

  • hemorrhoids, abscesses (local applications with leek)

In order to treat all these diseases it is recommended that leek be eaten fresh, or as decoction and syrup. Leek decoction is also used in cosmetics, especially in hair washing for giving special reflexes.
